A ground-attack derivative of the MiG-23, it has engines optimized for subsonic operation (lacking variable intakes) and a down-sloping 'ducknose' packed with ground-attack sensors and armor. The sloping nose gives the pilot a much better view of the ground below. Consistent with its design for the low-altitude combat environment, the MiG-27 possesses no air-to-air radar.
